For the end of the year festivities, we went with a friend to the Tea Time of great Parisian palace The Meurice.
His pastry, chef Cédric Grolet who creates some little masterpieces. We were eager to taste these pastries, while enjoying the outstanding setting of this hotel. I’m fond of pastries and everything about this subject interests me : the Saint Honoré classics, the Millefeuille, the macaroons, the eclairs, the cakes…we are lucky, we have a number of talented pastry chefs in Paris.
The place, chic, with gilding, mirrors (Ara Starck ceiling), we are installed. The staff, who are taking care of us, bring us a first plate, so we can wait for other things coming. Considering what await us, we did well to have a light lunch (my advice do the same).

Four small toasts (with salmon, foie gras) for each person, two scones and four pastries, accompanied by hot drink, Mariage Frères tea, hot chocolat from Alain Ducasse and now you can see why is better to come not after a capious lunch.

My favourites : warm and moist scones are to be combined with a cream or homemade jam, they are even delicious on their own. And Cédric Grolet’s pastries, sculptures. This is excellent, the Mont-Blanc tartlet, when you cut it, you see this cream inside…and the cake with the aspect of mandarin skin is amazing.

A moment out of time, in beautiful place, a taste experience which i highly recommend.
