Cascais is a seafront town located at 26km from Lisbon
It’s an former fisherman’s village, by train we are there in 30 minutes. Highly appreciated by the English in the 19th century, it’s charming little town with pretty white alleys and pretty façades.
During our trip in Lisbon, the idea of spending a moment in Cascais, came to us.
By train it’s fast and economical ( you have a round trip to Lisbon Cascais for less than five euros). Basically all is reasonable in Portugal, so we remained for one afternoon.

The city is very pleasant, beautiful houses are located on the beach, a marina, nice terraces overlooking the sea.

On the streets of Cascais, we passed by some facades houses covered with earthenware, this one was of ochre, brown colours. Azulejos (name of earthenware, a craftsmanship Portuguese) are best know in blue with figurative motifs. I learn that there are different tones, with or without motifs.

Small seafront houses, some of them are facing the creeks. Sober style house, the focus is on paving. I love it.

Arriving on one of the beaches of the city, we set up at terrace of Albatroz’s hotel. Its restaurant, La Reserva is perfect place to relax with a drink of local speciality.

For an unexpected getaway, Cascais made me want to plan a next visit, to enjoy this lovely city.
